Delete your UUDO account or data

This page lets you delete your UUDO account, or request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. There is nothing to install, and you do not need to be able to sign in.

You can make either request in three ways, all described in full on this page:

  • Email our Data Protection Officer: Write to privacy@uudo.app and say whether you want your account deleted or a copy of your data.
  • Use the form on this page: Enter your email, choose delete or access, and confirm with a 6-digit code we send to that address.
  • Delete from inside the app: If you are signed in, follow Settings → Account → Delete account.

If the form below does not load — for example because a security check is blocked on your network — use the email route. Emailing privacy@uudo.app reaches the same person and carries exactly the same rights.

How a request works

Whether you want your account deleted or a copy of your data, the steps are the same. We confirm you control the email address with a 6-digit code — never a link, because university and workplace mail systems sometimes open links automatically.

  1. Tell us who you are

Enter the email address your UUDO account uses and choose whether you want deletion or a copy of your data.

  2. Confirm your email

We send a 6-digit code to that address. Type it in to prove the request is really yours.

  3. We complete it by hand

Your confirmed request goes to our Data Protection Officer, who reviews and completes it and replies to you within the legal response window.

Make a request

Choose what you would like to do. Nothing is deleted when you submit — a person completes every request after your email is confirmed.

What would you like to do?

Use the address your UUDO account uses.

Prefer to email us?

You do not have to use the form. You can exercise your rights at any time by emailing our Data Protection Officer directly at privacy@uudo.app.

Tell us whether you want your account deleted or a copy of your data, and the email address your UUDO account uses. We may ask you to confirm that you control that mailbox before we act. This route has exactly the same standing as the form.

Delete from inside the app

If you can sign in to the UUDO app, you can start deletion yourself: open Settings → Account → Delete account.

Deletion begins after a 7-day grace period, during which you can cancel simply by signing back in. After the grace period your account is permanently erased as described below.

What is deleted, and what we keep

When your account is deleted, here is what happens to each kind of data. Some data is erased outright, some is stripped of anything that identifies you, and a small amount is kept in a form that no longer points back to you.

DataWhat happens when your account is deleted
Profile and account data — your name, university, major, class year, interests, settings, connections and blocksErased. Deleted together with your account.
Your login identity — email address, password, active sessions and any two-factor methodsErased. The sign-in identity itself is deleted, so the email address tied to the account does not survive.
Messages you sent in chatTombstoned. The content is overwritten and your name is unlinked, so the conversation still reads for the other person but no longer carries your words or identity.
Conversation previews and reactions you addedErased. Cleared and deleted.
Chat rooms you createdKept for the other members, with your identity removed as the creator.
Consent recordsWritten to a pseudonymized compliance receipt that holds no name or email, then deleted with your account.
Security and audit logsKept, pseudonymized. Your name and email are not stored; a one-way code stands in for your identifier. We keep these to detect and investigate abuse and to show we handled your data lawfully.
Aggregate, anonymized statisticsKept. These no longer identify you.
The deletion or data request itselfYour email is stored only in encrypted form so we can reach you, and the request record is deleted 180 days after it is closed.

Most accounts — including every student account — are erased in full. If you are a staff member, a content author, or hold administrative permissions, some authorship attribution on institutional content (for example events or news you published, or access you granted) must be kept for now, because that content belongs to your institution. This is a known technical limitation we are actively removing, not a refusal. When it applies, our Data Protection Officer handles your request by hand and tells you exactly which categories of your personal data were erased and which were kept, within the legal response window.

You do not have a UUDO account

You can make a request even if you never created an account — for example if you only joined the waitlist, used our contact form, subscribed to research updates, or asked us to add your university.

Use the same form above with the email address you gave us, or email privacy@uudo.app. You will receive the same 6-digit confirmation code, and your request reaches the same Data Protection Officer. Nothing on the form assumes you already have an account.

How long it takes

This version of UUDO routes every verified request to our Data Protection Officer, who completes it by hand. Submitting the form or sending an email does not delete anything on its own.

Under the LGPD (Art. 18 § 3) we respond within 15 days of confirming your request, extending that only where the law allows and telling you if we do. If you are in the EU or EEA, the GDPR gives you an equivalent right and we respond within its time limits.

Data Protection Officer (Encarregado)

Our designated Encarregado (LGPD Art. 41) and Data Protection Officer (GDPR Arts. 37–39) is João Pedro Vartanian, who can be reached at privacy@uudo.app for any request or question about how your personal data is handled.
